Wilberforce awoke from yet another nightmare featuring the doll from test card F. It was one of his less frightening and more curious dreams.
The girl playing noughts and crosses with the doll was replaced by Wilberforce’s sister; the way she looked when he last saw her seven years previously.

THE UNSHACKLING
Submitted by antoneli on Sun, 2009-01-25 03:26.Introduction
The uniformed security guard stationed at the entrance to the International Center for Mental Diseases stopped the middle-aged woman who was about to enter its premises. But the woman, with hair unkempt, kept on walking slowly and was oblivious to the guard who was calling to her a bit louder now.
“Hey! Hey, lady! Will you please wait?”
The woman, who kept on advancing slowly, did not show any sign that she had heard the guard who had by now planted his body right in front of her. Ragged breathing was the only sign of the temper he was trying to control.

Submitted by sebastianlongsayz on Mon, 2008-03-17 10:08.[Below is Part One of a ten-part, 100,000-word completed novel]
6:00 a.m., Los Angeles, Julio, a Chateau Marmont gardener, looks up from deadheading hydrangeas. Sees an object fly off the top-floor terrace. Shiny square object glinting past espaliered pear trees; dive bombing the begonia bed.
Big thud.
Nobody calls out, nobody descends from the upper floors. Julio crawls across Korea grass, eyes clenched, trying to be invisible. Minutes pass. Julio moves his prey to the shelter of a princess flower gazebo.

Like a Viand
Submitted by moira_santi on Tue, 2006-10-10 15:52.Sweet and sour, that’s the nature of my relationship with my mother. She said that being her eldest, I’m both her comrade and her enemy since she was the sole breadwinner back then and I was left to manage the house. It seems we never saw eye to eye in almost everything from the way I budget the expenses, to my leniency in dealing with my younger siblings. I guess it’s due to age disparity and difference of generations on how we were brought up.
