Dark Earth
Dark Earth tells a sleek and sexy story of scientific advancement, interplanetary communication, and questionable ethics. The unique characters must grapple with dilemmas and events unlike anything mankind has ever faced: the presence of alien life, humans being made into their ultimate selves, and pivotal battles in which the future of all humanity hangs in the balance. Step into a strangely familiar world where new discoveries and uncovered secrets task the natures of humankind with Earth heading to its destiny on fate's paved road, and most likely, to its end.
Going into the story, we find that Earth is not alone in the universe when it comes to living, intelligent inhabitants roaming its land. There are countless other species, some far less advanced and many far more advanced with intentions ranging from gracious to the terrifying. Only the interstellar sanctions and restrictions set by unimaginable beings just short of godhood has kept the Earth safe as little more than an observatory, primitive location.
Among the precious few humans who are aware of the extra-terrestrial existence is a man called Mr. Hadean. He has spent an impossible amount of time involving himself in the system and using it to gain power for himself and his influential supporters - at the risk of endangering the Earth itself. Even as a favored agent of US security, Reginald Gates, spends most of his adult life just getting in position to thwart Hadean's fateful intentions, the tempted and prideful nature of man plays against him at every turn.
Gates must gather a team of operatives and agents diverse in their ethical manners but united in their loyalty to him. In order to evade being disbanded by highly ranked officials, going thru Hadean's powerfully enhanced resources/ strong-arms, and turn back the wave of destruction headed for Earth, Gates and his Spartan Trust must bite into the poisonous fruit of super-ability and compromising tactics themselves to get just one last shot at saving all life on Earth not just from the extra-terrestrial imposers abroad...from our own destructive hearts.
